What is National Payroll Week?
Founded in 1996 by PayrollOrg, National Payroll Week or NPW coincides with the week of Labor Day and highlights the achievements and partnerships between America’s employees, payroll professionals, and various government programs and agencies. During NPW, PayrollOrg celebrates payday and honors and celebrates the hard work and dedication of America’s workers and the payroll professionals who ensure paychecks are accurate and on-time for millions of employees.
NPW serves as a platform for educating workers across the nation about the intricacies of their paychecks, empowering them with the insights they need to better understand their earnings and financial well-being. The Money Matters program sees hundreds of volunteers teach “paychecks 101” to teens across the country each year.
Working for America
The official slogan for NPW is “America Works Because We’re Working for America.®” The money that payroll professionals collect from employees’ paychecks through the payroll withholding system is vital to the funding of important government programs that keep America working smoothly, such as Medicare, the building of federal highways, social security, the U.S. military, and much more. Together payroll professionals collect, contribute and report 70% of the U.S. Treasury’s annual revenue.
